How to Troubleshoot Android Delayed Notifications on Kasa /Tapo APP

Sometimes we get delayed notifications from Kasa /Tapo APP on Android smartphones, or could not get notifications when the phone screen is turned off, which could be caused by notification rules on Android operating systems itself based on the hardware manufacturers.

Here we list some settings to adjust or optimize on your android smartphones that may help to fix the delayed notifications situation.

Note: If you are using a third-party security APP on the phone, please add the Tapo/Kasa APP to its exceptions or whitelist.

For general Android devices:

1. Allow notification permissions in Settings for Tapo/Kasa.

2. Allow Tapo/Kasa to auto-start in Security/Settings > Auto-start.

3. Turn off battery optimization/limitations for Tapo/Kasa.

4. Lock Tapo/Kasa in “recent pages “.Locking the APP to make sure it is running in the background.

5. If none of these works, please reboot the Tapo camera for notifications to take effect.

Tips 1: Prioritize notifications of the Tapo/Kasa app

1. Open Settings > apps

2. Select Tapo/Kasa app

3. Go to the Tapo/Kasa app settings > Notification

4. Toggle ” Notification” to on and set as priority.

Tips 2: Turn Notifications (Lock screen)

1. Open Settings > Notifications > Notifications (Lock screen)

2. Toggle on “show on always-on display”

3. Go to Do not disturb > Apps, select Tapo App and make sure “Do not disturb” is not applied to Tapo.

Tips 3: Turn off battery limit

1. Open Settings > Battery > Background usage limits

2. Add Tapo/Kasa to the list of “Never sleeping apps”

Tips 4: Lock the app

1. Tap the Menu button to check “recent pages”.

2. Tap the Lock Icon of Tapo/Kasa to lock the app

3. Tap Done to complete.

Tips 1: Disable App-Launch Manage automatically settings

1. Open Settings > Battery > App Launch

2. Find Tapo/Kasa in the list

3. Toggle the “manage automatically” to off and let it run in the background

2. Select Notifications and allow them to show for the Lock screen
